Mobile App Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 13 July 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the mobile booking applications ("the App") operated by SBS Private Hire Limited ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, registering for or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. About Us
SBS Private Hire Limited operates private hire and taxi booking services through a number of trading brands, including but not limited to:
- Dunmow Minicab Company
- First Light Taxis
- Fly Stansted Taxis
- Jim's Travel
Our registered office and contact details are available on our website.
2. Booking Services
The App allows customers to:
- Obtain fare estimates
- Book private hire vehicles
- Track their allocated driver
- Manage future bookings
- Receive booking updates
- Pay for journeys where available
Submitting a booking request does not guarantee that a vehicle is immediately available.
A booking is only confirmed once you receive confirmation through the App or from our control centre.
3. Account Registration
You agree that all information you provide is accurate and kept up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password and for all activity carried out using your account.
4. Your Responsibilities
When using the App you agree to:
- Provide accurate pickup and destination details.
- Ensure your contact details remain current.
- Be ready for collection at the agreed pickup point.
- Treat drivers and vehicles respectfully.
- Comply with all applicable laws.
You must not misuse the App, interfere with its operation or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
5. Fares
Fare estimates shown within the App are provided as guidance unless explicitly stated to be fixed fares.
The final fare may vary where:
- Your journey changes.
- Additional waiting time is incurred.
- Route changes are requested.
- Additional pick-up or drop-off points are added.
- Road closures, diversions or exceptional traffic conditions occur.
- Applicable surcharges or parking charges apply.
Where a fixed fare has been confirmed, the agreed fare will normally apply unless the journey is materially changed by the passenger.
6. Payments
Where card payment is available, payments are processed securely through our payment provider.
We do not store your full payment card details.
Payment must be made using an authorised payment method.
We reserve the right to recover unpaid fares and reasonable administration costs where payment is declined or reversed.
7. Cancellation Policy
Passengers may cancel bookings through the App or by contacting us.
Cancellation charges may apply where:
- A driver has already been dispatched.
- The driver has arrived at the pickup location.
- Significant time has been spent travelling to collect you.
- Advance bookings are cancelled without reasonable notice.
Any applicable cancellation charges will be advised where possible.
8. Waiting Time
Drivers may charge reasonable waiting time where passengers are not ready at the agreed collection time.
Airport collections may also incur waiting or parking charges where applicable.
9. Passenger Conduct
Drivers may refuse or terminate a journey if passengers:
- Behave aggressively or abusively.
- Smoke or vape where prohibited.
- Consume illegal substances.
- Damage the vehicle.
- Put the driver or others at risk.
Additional cleaning or repair charges may be recovered where damage or excessive soiling occurs.
10. Location Services
The App may request access to your device's location to improve pickup accuracy and journey tracking.
You may disable location permissions within your device settings, although some features may no longer operate correctly.
11. Availability
While we aim to provide continuous access to the App, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.
The App may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates or circumstances beyond our control.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SBS Private Hire Limited shall not be liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses.
- Loss of profits or business.
- Delays caused by traffic, weather, road closures or events outside our reasonable control.
- Temporary unavailability of the App.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.
13. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information.
14. Intellectual Property
The App, its content, branding, logos and software remain the property of SBS Private Hire Limited or its licensors.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify or distribute any part of the App without our written permission.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time.
The latest version will always be available on our website and continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
